On Thursday, October 13 was laid the foundation stone of first 4 MW photovoltaic project of DEVKI, an Indian steel and cement manufacturer widely established in Kenya, on its Ruiru site.
Developed by DPA Kenya, the Joint Venture between EDF and its pan-African partner DPA, the project will install a total of 4 MW of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the company's buildings to decarbonize its electricity while reducing its operation costs. This is a first step for DEVKI, which has express the wish to reaching 20 MW of solar installed capacity at its cement and steel plants within the next 12 months.
It is also a first step for EDF, therefore entering officially the C&I (Commercial and industrial) market in Kenya through DPA Kenya. The first project of many.
The launching ceremony for the work and the construction of the generator took place in the presence of Valérie LEVKOV (VP EDF Africa and Middle East), Norman MOYO, (CEO DPA Africa) and Narandra RAVAL (guru and chairman of DEVKI).
